Department of Information Technology

Department of Information Technology established in 2008. The department is, presently running the undergraduate programs leading to B.Tech. (Regular) and offering degree under reputed Kurukshetra university, Kurukshetra, Haryana.

The term Information Technology is not new in this era. With technology reaching every nook and corner of the world, Information Technology or IT is a common term for innovations taking place in the combined field of information and technology. Information Technology is the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware. It deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to covert, store, protect process, transmit and securely retrieve information. Information technology is very vast in terms of scale because it is applied virtually to any type of process that may require automation, from business, scientific research to the music industry, telecoms and banking.

Computer science refers to the processes used to create usable computer programs and applications together with all theory behind those processes. Information technology on the other hand refers to the application of computer programs to solve business processes.

Information systems are the foundation for conducting business today. In many industries, survival and even existence without extensive use of IT is inconceivable, and IT plays a critical role in increasing productivity. Hence there is no dearth of demand for IT engineers for years to come. So if you are a good communicator, leader and team player and like to work out what makes things tick, IT could be for you.
